Free fishing days are the perfect opportunity for beginners to try fishing out for the first time. Below you will find the days that your state doesn’t require a license.

AlabamaAlabama's free fishing day is the second Saturday in June each year. For 2022 it's June 11.
AlaskaAnglers in Alaska who are 15 and under or 61 and older can fish for free year-round
ArizonaArizona's free fishing day is the first Saturday in June. For 2022 it's June 4.
ArkansasArkansas's free fishing day is the second full Weekend in June. For 2022 it's June 11-13.
CaliforniaCalifornia's free fishing day is July 2 and September 3 for 2022.
ColoradoColorado's free fishing day is June 4-5, 2022
ConnecticutConnecticut's free fishing day is May 7, 2022 (June 19 and August 6 are also free but require signing up for a free one day license)
DelawareDelaware's free fishing day is the first full Weekend of June. For 2022 it's June 4-5.
FloridaFlorida's free freshwater fishing day is the first Weekend in April and the second Weekend in June. For 2022 it's April 2nd & 3rd and June 11th & 12th.
Florida's free saltwater fishing day is the first Weekend in June, first Saturday in September, and the Saturday following Thanksgiving. For 2022 it's June 4th & 5th, September 3rd, and November 26th.
GeorgiaGeorgia's free fishing day is June 4 & 11 and September 24th for 2022.
HawaiiSaltwater fishing in Hawaii is free for recreational anglers.
IdahoIdaho's free fishing day is the second Saturday in June each year. For 2022 it's June 11th.
IllinoisIllinois's free fishing day is Father's Day Weekend in June each year. For 2022 it's June 18-19.
IndianaIndiana's free fishing day is May 1st, June 4-5, and September 24, 2022.
IowaIowa's free fishing day is the first Weekend in June. For 2022 it's June 3-5.
KansasKansas's free fishing day is June 4-5, 2022.
KentuckyKentucky's free fishing day is June 4-5, 2022.
LouisianaLouisiana's free fishing day is the second Weekend in June. For 2022 it's June 11-12.
MaineMaine's free fishing day is February 19 & 20 and June 4 & 5, 2022.
MarylandMaryland's free fishing day is June 4 & 11, July 4th, 2022.
MassachusettsMassachuttes's freshwater free fishing day is June 4-5, 2022. Massachuttes's saltwater free fishing day is June 18-19, 2022.
MichiganMichigan's free fishing day is February 19-20 and June 11-12, 2022.
MinnesotaMinnesota offers free ice fishing January 15-17, 2022 for residents 16 and older who are fishing with children younger than 16. Moms fish for free May 14-15. Minnesota residents 16 and older who are fishing with children younger than 16 can fish for free on June 10-12, 2022.
MississippiMississippi's free fishing day is June 4-5 and July 4th, 2022.
MissouriMissouri's free fishing day is the second Weekend in June. For 2022 it's June 11-12.
MontanaMontana's free fishing days are Father's Day Weekend and Mothers Day Weekend. For 2022 it's June 18-19 and May 7-8.
NebraskaNebraska's free fishing day is Saturday, May 21, 2022.
NevadaNevada's free fishing day is the second Saturday in June. For 2022 it's June 11th.
New HampshireNew hampshire's free fishing day is January 15 and June 4, 2022.
New JerseyNew Jersey's free fishing day is June 4th and October 22, 2022.
New MexicoNew Mexico's free fishing day is June 4th and September 25, 2022.
New YorkNew York's free fishing day is February 19-20, June 25-26, September 24 and November 11, 2022.
North CarolinaNorth Carolina's free fishing day is July 4th.
North DakotaNorth Dakota's free fishing day is the first Weekend in June. For 2022 it's June 4-5.
OhioOhio's free fishing day is Father’s Day Weekend. For 2022 it's June 18-19.
OklahomaOklahoma's free fishing day is the first Weekend in June. For 2022 it's June 4-5.
OregonOregon's free fishing day is President’s Day Weekend, Feb 19-20, June 4-5, and November 25-26, 2022.

Rhode IslandRhode Island's free freshwater fishing day is the first Weekend in May. For 2022 it's May 7-8th.
South CarolinaSouth Carolina's free fishing day is Memorial Day, May 29, 2023 and Independence Day, July 4th.
South DakotaSouth Dakota's free fishing day is May 20-22, 2022.
TennesseeTennesse's free fishing day is the second Saturday in June. For 2022 it's June 11.

West VirginiaWest Virginia's free fishing day is the second Weekend in June. For 2022 it's June 11-12.

WyomingWyoming's free fishing day is May 31 to June 1, 2022.
