What Makes a Good Ned Rig Rod?
The ideal Ned rig rod is 7’4″ to 7’6″ long with light to medium action. The longer length will give you a good balance of casting distance and accuracy to help you get your bait to where you want it.
Light action is better for open water or light cover. If you fish heavy cover often you may want to bump up to a medium action.
What Line to Use When Fishing a Ned Rig
I fish ned rigs on a spinning rod with 20lb braid and a 8 foot 6lb fluorocarbon leader. The braid mainline provides great casting distance and enough sensitivity to detect even the most subtle bites.
The 8 foot fluoro leader makes your line near-invisible close to your bait even in the clearest water.
